Over 90 agriculture ministers from all over the world, together with
high-level representatives of international organizations, agreed to act
in response to theCOVID-19 pandemic, preventing further pandemics, and
onclimate changemitigation and adaptation. This was one of the most
important events during the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture held
virtually and hosted in Berlin, Germany in January 2021.

The action plans to be adopted are detailed in the 2021 Communique. The
quest of nations towards zero hunger continues as stated in the
Communique, "We are convinced that long-term solutions require a
holistic, food-systems approach and 3 that sustainable, resilient and
inclusive food systems can bring about a world free from hunger and any
form of malnutrition."

The key point that emerged from the discussions was that the COVID-19
pandemic pushed communities towards innovation. Director-General QU
Dongyu of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
(FAO) encouraged the participants to work together to keep the momentum
of innovation to address the challenges brought about by the pandemic
and climate change.
